Prying questions
qualia is an interactive sci-fi fiction that revolves around the A.M.T. Study, a mysterious social experiment wherein participants will be asked to answer a series of questions, and you're tasked with analyzing their responses to determine whether they are human or machine. The game boasts over 20,000 words worth of dialogue and over 300 possible scenarios you can encounter.
Despite its text-heavy nature, experience intricate world-building as you're introduced to and ponder on an alternate reality wherein AI has achieved near-true sentience, with six possible endings to keep you experimenting with questions in order to unlock them all. All that said, each playthrough is quite short, but the aforementioned finale does encourage replayability.
Blurring the lines
All in all, qualia is a pretty interesting interactive fiction experience with its sci-fi themes and retro aesthetics and presentation. It offers many different ways to experience the gameplay and multiple endings you can work towards to unlock. If you're a fan of these types of games, give this one a try.
